About us
The interests and scientific research of the staff focus on interpersonal relationships, particularly romantic and family relationships, assessed in terms of their integration and health-related aspects.
- The quality of close relationships (marriage, cohabitation), considering partner diversity in terms of psychological gender, sexual orientation, and cultural differences.
- Analysis of processes occurring in close relationships.
- Strategies for partner selection and expectations toward partners. The role of interpersonal commitment.
- The risk of relationship disintegration—normative and non-normative crises, infidelity as an interpersonal transgression, multiple role expectations, and the family-work conflict.
- Sexualization in adults as a symbolic social message linked to the pursuit of approval and admiration from others.
- Close emotional relationships and quality of life. Health and interpersonal relationships among individuals living alone (singles).
- The digitalization of family life and its consequences. Digital families vs. traditional families.
- The dynamics of relationships in non-traditional family systems (single-parent, blended, or chosen families). The importance of psychological support and assistance for these families.
- Familism and family values. The intergenerational transmission of behavioral patterns within the family system and its impact on mental health.
- The role of family and sibling relationships in shaping well-being and mental health in young adults. Determinants and consequences of positive and challenging sibling relationships.
- Psychological aspects of relationships in the context of adult children caring for aging and/or ill parents.
- Families with a chronically ill member. Parents facing a child's oncological illness. The role of family resources and social support in coping with illness and facilitating recovery.
