Women’s Studies Centre

The Scientific and Research Center for Women's Studies at the University of Lodz was founded by Prof. Elżbieta H. Oleksy in 1992 and was the first institution of its kind in Poland. In October 2006, WSC was incorporated into the structure of the Faculty of International and Political Studies (WSMiP). Since September 2020, WSC has been a unit located at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lodz. The activities of ON-BPK include interdisciplinary research and teaching in the field of gender/women's studies, feminist research, gender mainstreaming policy and effective instruments for counteracting all types of social exclusion. Women's Studies Centre systematically engages in popularizing knowledge on issues related to gender issues, equal rights for women and men and anti-discrimination activities.
